Entries for Tuesday Sales will be taken on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday (5pm) of the previous week for inclusion in the draw.
Entries for Thursday & Friday Sales will be taken on Thursday and Friday (5pm) of the previous week for inclusion in the draw.
Entries for Monday Sheep Auction taken on Friday of previous week.
The Runner Section:
Only Stock 6 MONTHS OR UNDER will be sold in the Runner Section and they will be sold after the Calf Sale.
Calves must be at least 10 days of age before they can be sold and UNDER 6 weeks of age.
Draw For First Pen To Be Sold in Weanling Bull and Bullock Ring
Draw for First Pen of Heifers to be Sold
***Change to draw system for Bullocks, Heifers, Cull Cows, Weanling Bulls & Weanling Heifers – From 31st January 2022 – enter your stock as usual – if the number drawn is equal to or below half the number of pens entered, we go down to pen 1 and then up. If the number drawn is above half the number of pens entered, we go up to the last pen in the draw, then start at pen 1 and up to the number drawn.
Sheep Sellers All sheep including lambs presented for sale must be identified with a full set of EID tags, i.e. one conventional tag in the sheep’s left ear and a corresponding electronic tag placed in the sheep’s right ear. All sheep moved to and from a livestock mart must also be accompanied by a newly issued dispatch document containing a barcoded document serial number.

MONDAY 30th OCTOBER
The Monday Bank Holiday weanling sale in Kilfenora proved another great success with over 400 lots going through the ring. It was mostly a yard of top quality continental stock on offer. Trade was supported by farmers and shippers especially in the heifer section. Farmers were the main customers in the bull section. Producers of the top quality lots were well rewarded for their efforts, as seen from below.

Numbers holding up strong in all rings but quality is becoming very variable. The quality lots are holding a very strong trade. There is both farmer and shipper activity in the heifer and bull weanling rings at the moment. Again it’s the lighter lots that are attracting the higher price per kg. Runner heifers made from €445 to €915 and runner bulls from €500 to €850. In-calf suckler cows made from €1,000 to €1,810. Very few with calves at foot and these made to €1,675. Hoggets generally made €2/kg to €2.30/kg or to €121. Cull ewes made €65 to €125.

Bigger sale than normal in Kilrush today. There was a mix of continental and traditional breeds on show. Stock were looking very well today after the fine week. A number of cattle on show today had 4 plus movements on them and these were the toughest trade. Trade was driven by farmer demand.

Numbers back marginally in the bullock and cull cow ring but heifer numbers up and over 950 lots passed through the rings today. Trade very similar to last week again with quality to the fore. Cattle showed the benefits of a fine week and looked well presented today. The best trade again in the cow ring was for the beef cow as against the feeder cow. Not many aged bulls on offer today and these made to a top of €1,560. Again forward cattle in strong demand.

A very good entry of both stores and weanlings in Scariff together with cull cows. Farmers were the main customers with a small bit of export activity for the lighter bull weanlings. There was a very solid trade all round.
