Entries for Thursday & Friday Sales will be taken on Thursday and Friday (5pm) of the previous week for inclusion in the draw.
Entries for Monday Sheep Auction taken on Friday of previous week.
The Runner Section:
Only Stock 6 MONTHS OR UNDER will be sold in the Runner Section and they will be sold after the Calf Sale.
Calves must be at least 10 days of age before they can be sold and UNDER 6 weeks of age.

***Change to draw system for Bullocks, Heifers, Cull Cows, Weanling Bulls & Weanling Heifers – From 31st January 2022 – enter your stock as usual – if the number drawn is equal to or below half the number of pens entered, we go down to pen 1 and then up. If the number drawn is above half the number of pens entered, we go up to the last pen in the draw, then start at pen 1 and up to the number drawn.
Sheep Sellers All sheep including lambs presented for sale must be identified with a full set of EID tags, i.e. one conventional tag in the sheep’s left ear and a corresponding electronic tag placed in the sheep’s right ear. All sheep moved to and from a livestock mart must also be accompanied by a newly issued dispatch document containing a barcoded document serial number.

Numbers beginning to increase in all rings and some lovely quality stock about in the bull and heifer weanling rings and these meet a fine trade in return. Farmers, specialised bull feeders and shippers competing in the bull ring and mostly farmers in the heifer ring. Trade improved €20/hd all round. Pairs in the suckler ring made to €2,400 while in-calf stock made to €1,670. Dairy stock made €950 to €1,210. Numbers of calves increasing and Friesian bulls made €60 to €90 and Continentals made to €480. Sheep a shade easier and made to €132 for hoggets and culls made to €117.

Big increase in numbers today with almost 800 on offer. Trade for the quality weanlings holding very good both the bulls and heifers. Mixed quality a slight bit easier. Good increase in calf numbers with Friesian bull calves making €30 to €90 with stronger Friesian calves making to €120. Continental bull calves made to €440 and WH and AA reaching €260. Heifer runners made to €715 and Bull runners made to €860. Dairy stock made €800 to €1,400. In-calf Sucklers made to €1,800 and pairs made to €1,810. Hoggets made to €128 or to €76 over. Cull ewes made €125.

Big sale of weanlings, calves and suckler stock in Ennis Mart today, and trade could be described as very satisfactory all round. Bull weanlings a great trade and many of the bulls are possibly getting too much meal as store types were scarce. Great demand for quality suckling stock with pairs making to €2,280 and in-calf stock making to €1,710. Friesian bull calves made €30 to €140 but calves need to 3 weeks old and well fed to achieve higher prices. Continental calves made to €465. Whitehead and AA made €200 to €300 depending on strength and quality. Hoggets made to a high of €132 and culls made to €102. Dairy stock made €1,250 to €1,400.

Big sale today at the annual Cattle Show & Sale with 350 head on offer, which included a small number of calves. Friesian bull calves made €40 to €110 with good Whitehead calves making to €270. Some great quality in bullock, heifer and cull cow rings. A very good mix of Continentals and traditional breeds. Store trade very good but beef a tougher trade.

Big Sale today with over 900 on offer again and quality to the fore and prices very strong in the bull ring and more store bulls available today, some of the heifers a bit over fed. Again suckling stock a very strong trade with prices hitting €2,050 for pairs and in-calf stock to €1,855. Dairy stock made €900 to €1,440. Calf numbers similar to last week and trade similar with better calves making good money. Friesian bulls generally made €40 to €90 depending on strength and quality. Continentals made to €465 and WH and AA made €200 to €300. Hogget trade improved and made to €130 with cull ewes making to €130 also.

Good sized sale again today with 250 on offer and calf numbers well increased. Bad Friesian calves are almost impossible to sell whereas the better lots making to €80. Good trade for whitehead calves making to €260 but again it’s for the quality lots and bit of strength. Much smaller entry of cull cows today. Trade for bullocks and heifers was good all round. Mostly whiteheads and Friesians on offer in the bullock ring today.

The month of February finished on a good tone with numbers strong with over 900 on offer and a good trade all round. It must be said that there was a great run of quality store bullocks available today. Quality was a bit more variable in the heifer ring. There were 240 cull cows on offer with a good mix of dairy and continental culls about. Again trade for the feeder cows was good. A reasonable entry of aged bulls on offer and these averaged €1.70/kg with a top call of €1,820 for 1,100kg Charolais.
