The Runner Section:
Only Stock 6 MONTHS OR UNDER will be sold in the Runner Section and they will be sold after the Calf Sale.
Calves must be at least 10 days of age before they can be sold and UNDER 6 weeks of age.

***Change to draw system for Bullocks, Heifers, Cull Cows, Weanling Bulls & Weanling Heifers – From 31st January 2022 – enter your stock as usual – if the number drawn is equal to or below half the number of pens entered, we go down to pen 1 and then up. If the number drawn is above half the number of pens entered, we go up to the last pen in the draw, then start at pen 1 and up to the number drawn.
Sheep Sellers All sheep including lambs presented for sale must be identified with a full set of EID tags, i.e. one conventional tag in the sheep’s left ear and a corresponding electronic tag placed in the sheep’s right ear. All sheep moved to and from a livestock mart must also be accompanied by a newly issued dispatch document containing a barcoded document serial number.

There was something for everybody today, stores, beef and short keep stock available. Fifteen percent of the bullocks going North. A 98% clearance achieved.

Trade for the 2021 born cattle holding but the early born 2020 bullocks lacking any flesh are back and the hardest sold, and despite these 650kg plus bullocks getting into the €1,000 to €1,100 with their weight, some farmers finding it hard to take. Beef bullocks back €30 to €40/hd in line with beef quotas for next week.

Good size sale today with 648 on offer. Trade holding steady on the week and farmers very active for bull weanlings for bull beef and to castrate. Heifer trade steady on the week also but no increase in values. The lighter heifers of under 300kgs are the hardest sold. Very small entry of suckler stock today and these topped out at €2,000 for an in-calf heifer with her time up. The numbers of runners increasing and these meeting a fine trade but some lovely Continentals available. Heifer runners made to €870 and runner bulls made to €1,020. A dozen calves available and these made to €500 for 3 month old Limousin bull.

Smaller sale today due to the ploughing but trade was very strong especially in the bull weanlings which was dominated by farmer buyers. Good quality heifers a good trade also and a little bit more bite in the heifer trade. There were 15 sucks available, and these made to €580 for a month old limousin bull. There was a very small show of suckling stock.
