Entries for Tuesday Sales will be taken on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday (5pm) of the previous week for inclusion in the draw.
Entries for Thursday & Friday Sales will be taken on Thursday and Friday (5pm) of the previous week for inclusion in the draw.
Entries for Monday Sheep Auction taken on Friday of previous week.
The Runner Section:
Only Stock 6 MONTHS OR UNDER will be sold in the Runner Section and they will be sold after the Calf Sale.
Calves must be at least 10 days of age before they can be sold and UNDER 6 weeks of age.

Draw for First Pen of Heifers to be Sold
***Change to draw system for Bullocks, Heifers, Cull Cows, Weanling Bulls & Weanling Heifers – From 31st January 2022 – enter your stock as usual – if the number drawn is equal to or below half the number of pens entered, we go down to pen 1 and then up. If the number drawn is above half the number of pens entered, we go up to the last pen in the draw, then start at pen 1 and up to the number drawn.
Sheep Sellers All sheep including lambs presented for sale must be identified with a full set of EID tags, i.e. one conventional tag in the sheep’s left ear and a corresponding electronic tag placed in the sheep’s right ear. All sheep moved to and from a livestock mart must also be accompanied by a newly issued dispatch document containing a barcoded document serial number.

A smaller sale today with numbers back slightly on the previous week due to the weather and poor grass growth. Weanling bull trade in particular was strong again today but only for the better types with feeders and exporters active prices held on the previous week. In general quality was good today in the bull ring, but plainer type bulls hard sold. Heifers were a similar trade this week but again quality very variable. Suckler cows with calves ranged from €1,040 up to €1,365. Sheep trade was less again this week reflecting the current market for lamb and factory quotes decreasing as supply increases but numbers much larger as well. Cull ewes made up to €131. Hogget’s made to €119 for 56kg. Spring lambs made up to €118 for a pen of 10 weighing 48kg.Calf numbers smaller but expected with being so late in the season but trade remained firm. Angus/Hereford cross calves sold from €120 up to €260. Continental cross calves sold from €240 up to €490. Small number of Friesian calves and these made from €100 to €165.

Numbers smaller in the bullock and heifer ring this week but cull cow numbers holding well. A mix of both dairy and continental cows on offer today. Trade somewhat tougher all round. Some quality lots still maintaining prices in all rings but the €2/kg for cull cows is now extremely hard achieved. A number of aged bulls on offer and these made from €1.55/kg to €1.74/kg with a Charolais bull weighing 805kgs making €1,400.

SPECIAL AUTUMN BORN SALE
A large sale today with numbers well up on the previous weeks trade remains tough due to the weather and poor grass growth. Weanling bull trade held reasonably well with trade been driven by shippers and specialized feeder’s, farmers were scarce in general quality was good today in the bull ring with some lots of top quality bulls on offer, but plainer type bulls harder sold again. Heifers were a tough trade this week with exception of top quality lots. Suckler cows with calves ranged from €1,050 up to €1,770. Sheep trade was less again this week reflecting the current market for lamb and factory quotes decreasing as supply increases. Cull ewes made up to €130. Hogget’s made to €117 for 58kg. Spring lambs made up to €122 for a pen of 8 weighing 47kg. Calf numbers smaller but expected with being so late in the season but trade remained firm. Angus/Hereford cross calves sold from €130 up to €270. Continental cross calves sold from €220 up to €490. Good number of reared Friesian calves and these made from €200 to €270.

Numbers smaller today in the dry cow and heifer rings but bullock numbers holding. Trade similar in cow and heifer ring on the previous weeks. Average grade forward bullocks easier especially these that will not finish under 30 months. The younger store bullock held the trade very well. Less farmers around the bullock ring with grass growth poor this can be expected. A smaller entry of feeder cows and beef cows met a steady demand with trade similar to previous week with feeder cows selling better than more forward types with factory agents not as active. Aged bulls sold to a top price of €1,700 for a Limousin bull weighing 955kgs.

Heifers were a better trade this week with some good quality sorts on offer Suckler cows with calves ranged from €1,020 up to €1,730. Sheep trade was much the same again this week reflecting the current market for lamb and factory quotes decreasing as supply increases. Cull ewes made up to €121. Hogget’s made to €119 for 60kg. Spring lambs made up to €124 for a pen of 7 weighing 54kg. Calf numbers smaller but expected with being so late in the season but trade remained firm.

Aged bulls sold to a top price of €1,740 for a Hereford bull weighing 1,045kgs.

Numbers up in the bull weanling ring today. Overall trade steady on the week. The bull weanling ring was dominated by shippers and specialized feeders. Quality stock a very good trade in all categories but average to plainer stock finding it harder to find homes. Suckler pairings made €1,000 to €1,940. A number of runners beginning to appear and these meet quite a lively trade. A big yard of sheep today with almost 500 on offer. Trade holding for factory and butcher type lambs but demand for stores is quieter. Lambs generally €95 to €110 with cull ewes making to €126.
