Sale Regulations

Cattle

All cattle presented for sale at Clare Marts require 2 tags and a valid passport signed by the current owner/keeper.

The Following Test  Requirements apply:

Tuberculosis Testing (TB)

All cattle 6 weeks and over including calves have to be within 12 months of TB test.  The animal's passport will need to have the date of test, showing when the animal was tested.

Brucellosis Testing

It is no longer a requirement for the pre-movement of stock.

BVD

All calves born from 1st Janaury 2013 must be BVD Tested

Export Testing

In order for animals to be eligible for the live export market they have to be within 30 days of TB test and must be from a complete clear herd.  If animals are outside the 30 days then they can be tested by the exporter provided it is at least 42 days from their last TB test.  All animals between 30 days and 42 days of their last T.B. test are neither eligable for export or to be tested.  So when selling stock that may be suitable for export make sure they are within 30 day test or more than 42 days since their previous test. There is no need to have export certs attached to the passports as Clare Marts receives this infromation from the department.

Sheep

All sheep including lambs presented for sale must be identified with a full set of EID tags, i.e. one conventional tag in the sheep’s left ear and a corresponding electronic tag placed in the sheep’s right ear. All sheep moved to and from a livestock mart must also be accompanied by a newly issued dispatch document containing a barcoded document serial number.

TUESDAY - Ring 1 @ 11am - Weanling Bulls

Ring 2 @ 12 noon Weanling Heifers, 

Ring 3 @ 11.00 Calves, Runners followed by Suckler Stock

THURSDAY - Ring 1 @11:00 – Cull Cows followed by Aged Bulls. 

Ring 2 @ 11.30 Heifers

FRIDAY - 11:00 Bullocks

Download 'MARTBIDS' app on your smartphone or log onto 'Martbids' website in order to be able to view Clare Marts live sales in Ennis, Kilrush, Scariff and Kilfenora. If you wish to be approved to buy online, click 'request permission to bid' on the app.  After submitting the request to bid you need to ring Clare Marts to approve you on the app. 

 

Entry System: 

Entries for Tuesday Sales will be taken on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday (5pm) of the previous week for inclusion in the draw.

Entries for Thursday & Friday Sales will be taken on Thursday and Friday (5pm) of the previous week for inclusion in the draw.

Entries for Monday Sheep Auction taken on Friday of previous week.

The Runner Section:

Only Stock 6 MONTHS OR UNDER will be sold in the Runner Section and they will be sold after the Calf Sale.

Calves must be at least 10 days of age before they can be sold and UNDER 6 weeks of age.

Draw For First Pen To Be Sold in Weanling Bull and Bullock  Ring

Draw for First Pen of Heifers to be Sold

***Change to draw system for Bullocks, Heifers, Cull Cows, Weanling Bulls & Weanling Heifers – From 31st January 2022 – enter your stock as usual – if the number drawn is equal to or below half the number of pens entered, we go down to pen 1 and then up.  If the number drawn is above half the number of pens entered, we go up to the last pen in the draw, then start at pen 1 and up to the number drawn.

Big sale for the time of year with just over 600 on offer. Trade holding very strong all round and suckler stock a great trade again with these making to €3,370 for in calf lots and pairs made to €3,240. Runner heifers made to €1,350 for a choice limousin of 280kgs and bulls made to €1,050. Bull weanlings similar trade again and shippers extremely active. Heifer trade similar to previous weeks with quality lots an excellent trade.

Good size sheep sale today with 683 on offer, as there will be two more sheep sales prior to Christmas. Overall no great change in prices on last week with lambs generally making €3.50-3.80/kg. Some good quality lambs on offer today. Generally culls making €1.65-1.86/kg, with better quality lots exceeding these figures.

Fine size sale today with 537 bullocks on offer.  Nearly all stores available today and the price some of these have slipped in the last couple of weeks.  Quality also was more variable.  Great demand for the small number of forward stock available.  Younger lighter stock under 450kgs were back 5c/kg, with stock over 500kgs 3-5c/kg dearer this week.

Big sale of cull cows and heifers today with just over 700 on offer. Some excellent heifers throughout the sale today. In the cow ring it was a mix of 40% dairy and 60% continentals. Quite a number of heavy heifers available today. Average prices similar to last week. A small entry of aged bulls which averaged €2.55/kg and a limousine bull of 970kgs hit €2,560.
