Entries for Tuesday Sales will be taken on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday (5pm) of the previous week for inclusion in the draw.
Entries for Thursday & Friday Sales will be taken on Thursday and Friday (5pm) of the previous week for inclusion in the draw.
Entries for Monday Sheep Auction taken on Friday of previous week.
The Runner Section:
Only Stock 6 MONTHS OR UNDER will be sold in the Runner Section and they will be sold after the Calf Sale.
Calves must be at least 10 days of age before they can be sold and UNDER 6 weeks of age.
Draw For First Pen To Be Sold in Weanling Bull and Bullock Ring
Draw for First Pen of Heifers to be Sold
***Change to draw system for Bullocks, Heifers, Cull Cows, Weanling Bulls & Weanling Heifers – From 31st January 2022 – enter your stock as usual – if the number drawn is equal to or below half the number of pens entered, we go down to pen 1 and then up. If the number drawn is above half the number of pens entered, we go up to the last pen in the draw, then start at pen 1 and up to the number drawn.
Sheep Sellers All sheep including lambs presented for sale must be identified with a full set of EID tags, i.e. one conventional tag in the sheep’s left ear and a corresponding electronic tag placed in the sheep’s right ear. All sheep moved to and from a livestock mart must also be accompanied by a newly issued dispatch document containing a barcoded document serial number.

Sale similar in size to last week with just short of 850 head on offer. Trade similar in the bull and heifer rings and the strong trade maintained as shippers and farmers active in the bull ring especially, and a small bit of shipping activity in the heifer ring. Almost 200 calves available and slightly stiffer trade with the exception of the very good calves with the Continentals hitting €560. HEX calves made to €330 and AAX made to €245. Dairy stock made to €1,500. Pairs in the suckler ring made to €2,580 and very few in-calf lots made to €1,950.

Good size sale of bullocks today with 340 on offer. Trade could only be described as electric, up €30 to €50 on the week previous. There was quite a number of forward cattle on offer and these attracted serious demand, with bullocks over 700kgs making an average of €3.06/kg, with a high of €3.37/kg achieved in this weight bracket.

Big sale today for time of year with just short of 850 on offer. Calf numbers up today and most of the calves available were stronger at a month to 6 weeks old. Mostly beef breeds available today. Strong Friesian bulls made to €235 and HEX calves made €120 to €350. AA calves made €90 to €325. Continental calves made to €500. Cows with calves at foot made to €2,760. Weanlings were a very strong trade in both rings. Shippers and farmers very active in the bull ring and €3/kg to €3.70/kg was very common in this ring. Many lots of heifers making €3 to €3.60/kg for the quality lots. Quite a few of the better heifers bought for export also. Strong numbers of Autumn born weanlings being offered for sale presently.

Smaller sheep sale today with just short of 500 on offer. Lamb trade more buoyant today and up about €5 to €10/head depending on quality and some very good lambs today. Lambs hit a high of €183. Cull ewes, again a very strong trade and reached €200/head. Hoggets made to €170/head. Ewe and pair of lambs made €267 and 5 ewes with singles made €182.

Big sale for time of year with 750 head of stock on offer, and a 98% clearance achieved. Trade was strong all round today for all types and quality of stock. There were 150 suck calves available and these meet a good trade with quite a number of stronger calves available. Continental calves made to €760. AA calves made €120 to €345 and HEX calves made €150 to €320. Strong Friesian bull calves made €120 to €135. Pairs in the suckler ring made to €2,580 and in-calf lots made €1,220 to €1,620. Quite a number of pairs in the €2,000 to €2,580 bracket.
