Entry System:
Entries for Tuesday Sales will be taken on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday (5pm) of the previous week for inclusion in the draw.
Entries for Thursday & Friday Sales will be taken on Thursday and Friday (5pm) of the previous week for inclusion in the draw.
Entries for Monday Sheep Auction taken on Friday of previous week.
The Runner Section:
Only Stock 6 MONTHS OR UNDER will be sold in the Runner Section and they will be sold after the Calf Sale.
Calves must be at least 10 days of age before they can be sold and UNDER 6 weeks of age.

Draw for First Pen of Heifers to be Sold
***Change to draw system for Bullocks, Heifers, Cull Cows, Weanling Bulls & Weanling Heifers – From 31st January 2022 – enter your stock as usual – if the number drawn is equal to or below half the number of pens entered, we go down to pen 1 and then up. If the number drawn is above half the number of pens entered, we go up to the last pen in the draw, then start at pen 1 and up to the number drawn.
Sheep Sellers All sheep including lambs presented for sale must be identified with a full set of EID tags, i.e. one conventional tag in the sheep’s left ear and a corresponding electronic tag placed in the sheep’s right ear. All sheep moved to and from a livestock mart must also be accompanied by a newly issued dispatch document containing a barcoded document serial number.

Sheep Auction
Smaller sheep sale today with 348 on offer. Some lovely quality Spring Lambs available but quality of hogget’s very mixed and numbers of these slipping. The cull ewe trade held well but €2/kg very scarce with 2 ewes @ 81kgs making €177 and 7@ 104kgs making €218, 4 @ 90kgs made €196. A 100% rate was achieved.

April ended on a high with very big numbers coming out, as there was 1,047 on offer which included 140 calves. FR bull calves made from €15 to €110. AAX calves made from €30 to €310 & HEX calves made from €50 to €460. Continental calves made to €460. A handful of dairy cows made from €750 to €1,710. Mostly suckler pairs on offer today and these made to €2,490, as in-calf lots made to €1,790. A large entry of weanlings met a very good trade but quality was a lot more variable. The top weanlings still held a great trade, with heifers in the 300-400kg bracket a shade dearer.

Big sale in Kilrush today, but calf numbers slipping. Quality of calves available was variable but any calf with a bit of strength was a fine trade, with better calves making to €325. HEX calves made from €20 to €250. FR calves made from €25 to €145 & AAX calves made from €50 to €150. Large entry of 80 cull cows, with some very good quality cows available. Again, a lot of young stock in both the bullocks and heifers.

Fine size sale again today with 750 on offer. Not too much beef around in the bullock ring as there was mostly stores on offer. A great yard of both forward & store heifers and these met great demand. A good few cows made over the €3/kg mark once again. A good entry of cull bulls averaged €2.27/kg, as a CH bull weighing 1,100kgs made €2,390.
