The Runner Section:
Only Stock 6 MONTHS OR UNDER will be sold in the Runner Section and they will be sold after the Calf Sale.
Calves must be at least 10 days of age before they can be sold and UNDER 6 weeks of age.

***Change to draw system for Bullocks, Heifers, Cull Cows, Weanling Bulls & Weanling Heifers – From 31st January 2022 – enter your stock as usual – if the number drawn is equal to or below half the number of pens entered, we go down to pen 1 and then up. If the number drawn is above half the number of pens entered, we go up to the last pen in the draw, then start at pen 1 and up to the number drawn.
Sheep Sellers All sheep including lambs presented for sale must be identified with a full set of EID tags, i.e. one conventional tag in the sheep’s left ear and a corresponding electronic tag placed in the sheep’s right ear. All sheep moved to and from a livestock mart must also be accompanied by a newly issued dispatch document containing a barcoded document serial number.

Big sale again today with 580 bullocks on offer. Again, trade holding pretty strong and heavy forward bullocks a great trade and all these type of stock making the equivalent of €5/kg to €5.20/kg for the better types. Good demand for stores also and 20% of the bullocks going North again, and quite a few men buying both ringside and online for grass.

Big sheep sale again today with just over 500 sheep on offer. A scatter of spring lambs beginning to appear. Generally, hoggets trade similar to last week with a big percentage in the €160 to €169 bracket. Again, a super trade for the cull ewes with a top call of €232. A number of ewes with lambs at foot made up to €232 for singles and pairs made up to €310. Spring lambs made up to €170 or €3.30/kg to €3.88/kg.

Big sale today with just shy of 1,100 head on offer with 270 calves available. Mostly beef cross calves again today and the same story with strong calves in all breeds wanted but light handy calves are hard sold. Continental calves made to €480, HEX calves made €90 to €310. AA calves made €40 to €255. Suckler pairs hit €2,480 and in-calf lots made to €1,660. More dairy stock today and a mixed bag and made from €910 to €1,500. The weanling trade is holding good for the quality lots but plainer lighter lots are harder sold in both rings. Some export activity for the heavy lots and plainer lighter lots in the bull ring.

Huge sale of sheep today with almost 700 on offer. Hogget’s back on the week by about €6/hd. Quite a few spring lambs available today and generally making €3.20/kg to €3.70/kg or €160 to €170 for the better fleshed lambs. Cull ewes not as dear either and reached €223 a head. Ewes with pairs made to €201 and ewes with singles made to €160. Quality in the hogget’s and cull ewes was extremely variable today.

Pedigree Registered Mixed Breed Bull Sale

PEDIGREE REGISTERED MIXED BREED BULL SALE
We held a mixed breed bull sale today with 50% of the entries showing up and 65% of what was on offer sold on the day. Aberdeen Angus bulls made €1,300 to €1,490. Charolais bulls made €1,740 to €2,240. Hereford bulls were the highlight of the day and made €1,210 to €3,300.
Limousine bulls made up the largest numbers on offer and varied in price from €1,825 to €3,300.
Limousines averaged €2,270, Charolais averaged €1,980 and Herefords averaged €2,510.
Next Pedigree Registered Mixed Breed Bull Sale is Monday the 16 May.

Quite a few strong bullocks through the sale today and great online activity for these.

Smaller sheep sale today for the bank holiday with just over 300 on offer. A small entry of Spring lambs today and these making €3.50/kg to €3.72/kg with a top call of €171 for 46kgs. Hoggets generally from €155 to €167 or €2.60/kg to €3.19/kg. Cull ewes meet an excellent trade yet again and reached €213. Ewes with pair hit €262 and ewes with singles made to €181.

Trade improved in both the bull and heifer rings today as more farmers sourcing stock. Mostly beef breeds available in the calf ring. Continental calves made to €525. AA calves made €50 to €240. HEX calves made €145 to €325. It must be said that there was a better run of calves available today. Dairy stock made to €1,490. Mostly pairs in the suckler ring and these made to €2,520.

Much bigger sale of bullocks again today with 450 on offer and a fabulous trade with quite a number of forward cattle again and these meet a serious trade with a high of €2,920 achieved for 990kg Charolais. Some fabulous prices for stores also of all breeds and the good weather is having a telling effect.

Smaller sale today with the exception of calves. Good run of calves in it today and these generally made €130 to €200 with a few better calves making to €275 for a BBX bull calf. It was mostly Hereford calves. Weanling bulls made €3.17/kg with a pair of LMX of 302kgs making €960. AA bullocks hit €2.74/kg. Heifers made to €2.77/kg with a pair of Limousines of 332kgs making €920.

Big sheep sale today with 550 sheep on offer which included 170 spring lambs. These were making €146 to €173 or €3.30/kg to €3.75/kg. Hoggets made €2.20/kg to €3.20/kg depending on flesh cover. Cull ewes still a cracking trade and hit €220. A bunch of 5 ewes with pairs in lambs hit €318 per unit.

Big sale today with an increase in numbers in all rings and just short of 1,000 head on offer. A strong trade was reported in all rings despite the increase in numbers. Trade especially strong in the bull weanling ring with farmers very active and also strong export activity in this ring also. A good run of quality calves today and AAX calves made €130 to €240. HEX calves made €150 to €270. Continental calves made to €605. A number of dairy cows today and these made to €2,000 for the better lots. Pairs in the suckler ring made to €2,640 and in-calf lots to€1,700.

Sale similar in size to last week. A good mix of stores and beef in the cull cow ring. Mostly stores available in the heifer ring. Beef cows were a great trade but the store cows were a shade easier. The heifer trade was similar to last week. A selection of aged bulls averaged €2.29/kg with a top price of €2,410 for a charolais bull of 915kgs.
