Entry System:
Entries for Tuesday Sales will be taken on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday (5pm) of the previous week for inclusion in the draw.
Entries for Thursday & Friday Sales will be taken on Thursday and Friday (5pm) of the previous week for inclusion in the draw.
Entries for Monday Sheep Auction taken on Friday of previous week.
The Runner Section:
Only Stock 6 MONTHS OR UNDER will be sold in the Runner Section and they will be sold after the Calf Sale.
Calves must be at least 10 days of age before they can be sold and UNDER 6 weeks of age.
Draw For First Pen To Be Sold in Weanling Bull and Bullock Ring
Draw for First Pen of Heifers to be Sold
***Change to draw system for Bullocks, Heifers, Cull Cows, Weanling Bulls & Weanling Heifers – From 31st January 2022 – enter your stock as usual – if the number drawn is equal to or below half the number of pens entered, we go down to pen 1 and then up. If the number drawn is above half the number of pens entered, we go up to the last pen in the draw, then start at pen 1 and up to the number drawn.
Sheep Sellers All sheep including lambs presented for sale must be identified with a full set of EID tags, i.e. one conventional tag in the sheep’s left ear and a corresponding electronic tag placed in the sheep’s right ear. All sheep moved to and from a livestock mart must also be accompanied by a newly issued dispatch document containing a barcoded document serial number.

Sheep Auction
Huge sale of sheep today with almost 700 on offer. Hogget’s back on the week by about €6/hd. Quite a few spring lambs available today and generally making €3.20/kg to €3.70/kg or €160 to €170 for the better fleshed lambs. Cull ewes not as dear either and reached €223 a head. Ewes with pairs made to €201 and ewes with singles made to €160. Quality in the hogget’s and cull ewes was extremely variable today.

Pedigree Registered Mixed Breed Bull Sale

PEDIGREE REGISTERED MIXED BREED BULL SALE
We held a mixed breed bull sale today with 50% of the entries showing up and 65% of what was on offer sold on the day. Aberdeen Angus bulls made €1,300 to €1,490. Charolais bulls made €1,740 to €2,240. Hereford bulls were the highlight of the day and made €1,210 to €3,300.
Limousine bulls made up the largest numbers on offer and varied in price from €1,825 to €3,300.
Limousines averaged €2,270, Charolais averaged €1,980 and Herefords averaged €2,510.
Next Pedigree Registered Mixed Breed Bull Sale is Monday the 16 May.

Numbers back on the week in both the bull and calf rings. Trade improved in the bull weanling ring and heifer ring also slightly improved. Calf trade similar to last week with mostly beef breeds available. A number of dairy stock available and these meet a fair trade and made to €1,590. Suckler pairs made to €2,260.

Smaller sale today in Kilrush in all rings. Slightly better run of calves today and a better trade for them. Friesian calves made €45 to €115. AAX calves mad €115 to €145. A strong entry of HEX calves and these made €75 to €290 with more farmer activity. Good entry of cull cows with fleshed cows in strong demand yet again. Quite a few strong bullocks through the sale today and great online activity for these.
